Small patch notes, 4/16/2018

Just a few small fixes this morning. We are taking down the server, and when it returns:

-Treasure chests in camps should no longer decay.
-Escorts should now be able to cross map regions.
-Server performance improvements. We will be experimenting with longer auto-restart times.
-Fireball/Ruin returned to original difficulties and have the correct cast times

Can you shed some light on this one? Last thing I heard Fireball was the starter spell and ruin was one level up, to provide newbs with a starter spell that made sense. Not sure I understand "returned to original difficulties".

Fireball was broken.. cast time was to short for the damage it had
  • Torch double hit going to be fixed?
  • or pve loot drop?
  • its not in the notes so probably no.

Murda, several different people have told you we are working on those things. You truly don't need to keep asking when you've been answered. When it appears in the patch notes, then you will know the fix went in.

Sir Murphy, that creaking sound is me crawling onto thin ice, but I think that we just changed too much stuff at once. It's possible the original values will be fine with the new underlying system changes. We'll see. We really appreciate feedback from people who've tried the changes. :)
  • Does "escorts" refer to some sort of quest thing? Or is that just a party traveling together? /confused
  • SachaSacha [Reino de Aldor]
I think it referes to NPCs that ask you to travel to different locations

If that was the case with the flop then Ruin should have had a higher damage output than it did. When I started playing Ruin was fine where it was at, and so was fireball. Two patches ago the spells were flip-flopped around without much reason or modified damage to adjust to the change. Fireball spam became such a prevalent, and if you ask me a broken thing in PvP for the amount of damage it did with such a short cast time. You want to interrupt? There's Ruin for that, and damage when something comes close. Not everything in one package.

Just to clarify on the fireball/ruin revert. Previously you would start with 0 skills across the board. This meant the only thing you could cast initially was ruin. Several patches ago we adjusted ruin to deal damage based on the distance from the caster for pvp balancing. The side effect of that is it was no longer viable as a starting spell to kill newbie mobs. So we decided that switching ruin and fireball would be a fine fix. A side effect of this tho is the cast time of fireball and ruin were accidentally flip flopped thus breaking it again. So to fix the PvP balancing side of the issue we simply reverted the change and the spells now have the correct cast times. In regards to the newbie damage side, it's no longer an issue because players can start with 30 magery and channeling, and in this latest patch we made it so players start with both fireball and ruin.

I hope this helps to clear up any confusion about this change. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

    Thank you,
    Grim

should i re-download the client after patches ? or it update auto?
  • Grim_CSGrim_CS Contact@citadelstudios.net Administrator
This patch was just a server update. No new client is required for it. The latest client build is 0.6.3b so if don't have that you will want to download it because it does fix several known bugs from the prior patch.

As far as re-downloading clients, currently we do not have a patcher so yes a full redownload is required when a client patch is released.
  • found a small bug w/ chests. seems like you can drag coin bags into chest to have it do currency conversion. i.e. a bag of 100 copper is converted to 1 silver.

That gave me a business idea. I am gonna start running around grinding areas carrying a chest in my backpack and charge a small fee to convert the currency for those farming gold. :D

This wasn't happening for me a few days ago but did notice it today before I had to leave for work. Didn't have time for a bug report.
  • yeah...I can't figure out the conversion ratio actually so not sure what is going on but it is triggering some form of currency conversion.

This has been happening for a long time now. Split 2 coins from your backpack and place it in the box. Drag the rest of your coins on top of it from your backpack. Congratulations, you just efficiently converted your coins weight proportion without needing a banker to lighten your load.

It seems to be the coin purse because once you do the currency conversion and drag the new purse into your backpack, subsequent purses from corp can't be merged with what is in your bag.

You should be able to manually drag the new purse onto the pre-existing one and then it'll start stacking again. Unless the patch changed that.
  • yeah...you can drag the new "bugged" purse with existing one from new corp and they will merge.
